For many, the first thought that comes to mind when they hear the term human trafficking, is trafficking for sexual exploitation. This type of trafficking accounts for about 19 per cent of all victims of forced labour. Approximately 4.8 million people were victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation in 2016 alone. Seventy-three percent of victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation are found in Asia Pacific.
This report details IOM X’s campaign to support on-the-ground regional efforts to prevent trafficking for sexual exploitation.
