The Make Migration Work series encourages aspirant migrants and their families to seek as much safe migration information as possible before migrating to better protect themselves from exploitation.
These videos each tell two sides of a story - the perspective of the migrant and the perspective of one of their family members. It is recommended to show both sides of the same story when screening the videos. Beyond aspirant migrants and their families, these videos can also be used provide the general population insight into the motivations and experiences of migrants. Although specifically made for aspirant migrants from Myanmar, the lessons on safe migration from the video can be useful to many aspirant migrants around the world.
In this specific video, Nay Lin's Mother, Myint Myint Kyi, was heartbroken when her son left home. She also feared for his safety. Many people had told her about the terrible exploitation some migrant workers have been subjected to. She felt reassured knowing that he was taking the right precautions, such as visiting a migrant resource centre to obtain safe migration information.
