This video is part of the IOM X West Africa campaign (WAKA) in Guinea.
Thierno Moussa dropped out of school when he was younger and went on a journey where he lived in five different ECOWAS countries. After several years of living abroad, he returned to Guinea to be with his family. Today, he is successful business man with a restaurant in Guinea. He regrets having gone on his ‘journey’ because he wished he had finished his studies. Thierno Moussa says that migration is good if done legally. He says that the ‘West’ is not necessarily synonymous with success, as many of his friends who have migrated irregularly to Europe since 2017 now find themselves living in situations of exploitation, such as in detention centres.
