Description
In April 2017, IOM X conducted a baseline knowledge, attitudes and intended practices (KAP) survey to inform the safe migration campaign content development for the IOM X Bangladesh Roadshow. Surveyors conducted face-to-face interviews with 403 men and women (70% men, 30% women to reflect the higher number of male migrants in the country). Respondents were aged 18-35, living in Narsingdi, Bangladesh, with low levels of education and an aspiration to migrate abroad within the next 12 months. Both first time aspirant and returned migrants were surveyed. The baseline study collected data to assess their KAP with regard to safe migration practices, awareness of human trafficking, previous exposure to human trafficking and safe migration information, trusted sources of information, self-perceived agency and media consumption habits. This summary report of the baseline findings will help practitioners develop campaign materials and interventions for young aspirant migrants in Narsingdi, as the results show how to best reach this demographic. A full report is also available.
